82 (Disabled Handicapped Placard- Permanent & Disabled Decal)

TRANSACTION TYPE 82
PERMANENT DISABLED PLACARD AND DISABLED DECAL

AUTHORITY:

Tenn. Code Ann. Section(s) 55-4-111, 55-21-101 through 55-21-113

DESCRIPTION:

This transaction is used to issue or renew a permanent disabled placard for a
permanent disability. This transaction is used only by the TNClerk system. 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Application for Disabled Person License Plate/Placard must be completed in the name of the
  applicant.
• One free placard or a decal may also be obtained by eligible Disabled Veterans, if the applicant provides a letter from the United States Department of Veteran Affairs verifying that the veteran was rated permanent and totally disabled with an effective date. The applicant does not need to submit the Application for Disabled Person License Plate/Placard. 

Applicant may pay the following:

• Placard fee
• Additional County Clerk fees may be applicable.

DISABLED DRIVER DECAL

1. Enter the decal as a transaction 82 (same transaction as a disabled placard)
2. The decal format consists of  a “Z” and 7 numbers (Example: Z5000001) with Class Code 1020 Issue Year 2012
3. Enter the decal number without the leading letter “Z” into the placard number field
4. The appropriate class will auto-fill
5. Complete the remaining fields accordingly
6. The decal should be placed on the bottom left corner of the license plate
